Since joining forces in July 2017, Patchman and SiteLock have shared the same vision of protecting every website on the internet. In November of 2017, that mission continued with the announcement of a partnership with the popular Content Management System (CMS) Joomla!. Now Patchman is proud to announce the next phase in that mission, by sponsoring a member of the Joomla! Security Strike Team (JSST). “The partnership with Patchman is very beneficial for the Joomla! security team, because it provides what our volunteer-based team needs the most: scheduled and continuous developer hours to triage new reports and develop patches,” says David Jardin, the JSST Team Lead.
The JSST is an all volunteer collection of developers and security experts who work to improve and manage the security of the Joomla! platform. The JSST works specifically with issues that relate to the core Joomla! CMS and Framework, as well as responding to reports regarding the *.joomla.org network of websites.
“This partnership also allows us to tackle more complex issues that are hard to solve for volunteers who might be limited to 30-60 minutes per day to work for the JSST,“ Jardin adds. By sponsoring a member of the Security Strike Team, Joomla! and Patchman are able to work together on issues that might otherwise be overlooked or take longer to patch. Being an integral part of the development team allows Patchman to have patches ready for their customers as soon as new versions are released. Addressing these security issues as quickly and efficiently as possible helps to keep the open source community safer protecting Joomla! users, site visitors, and the internet as a whole.
