As part of my double-feature this weekend, I attended both WordCamp Salt Lake City and WordCamp Los Angeles. With my speaking engagement at #WCSLC on Saturday, I missed the first day of #WCLAX, but caught an early morning flight Sunday and caught up with my fellow campers right as the second day started. This year WCLAX was hosted at the Golden Eagle Ballroom at California State University Los Angeles and held three tracks.
The vendor area was comprised of several booths on an outdoor balcony, where only the weather in Los Angeles would permit. Here, the hallway track formed and fluctuated between sessions and several vendors were offering raffle prizes, ranging from an amateur drone from CloudAccess.net to a massive gift pack from our partner MediaTemple. Another one of our local partners, FastWebHost, gave away tickets to Universal Studios, which I won!
There was no shortage of goodies and many people went home with prizes and swag. Due to time constraints, I was not able to attend a lot of sessions, but was able to connect with community members that I hadn’t met before and form new relationships that I’m sure will last for years to come.
Lead Organizer, Adam Silver, delivered the closing speech with his typical humor, and the final prizes were raffled. As quickly as I’d arrived, the event was sadly over. I look forward to attending the entire conference next year for the full experience and more WordCamps in between. Until then, take care City of Angels.
